Americans changed their mind to supply LNG to Ukraine

In the spring, a memorandum for the supply of US liquefied gas to Ukraine was approved, but the US company rejected the deal.

The US company Louisiana Natural Gas Exports refused to supply liquefied gas to Ukraine, the head of the Energy Ministry, Olga Buslavets, said on Friday, September 11.

“In fact, there was a denial and there was no further communication after that,” he said, adding that there is no other information.

The memorandum with Louisiana Natural Gas Exports was approved by the government in May, but it was only a declaration of intent. If the agreement is signed, the total period of the project was calculated in 20 years with an annual supply of 5.5 billion cubic meters of LNG.

Recall that at the end of last summer, Ukraine, Poland and the United States signed a trilateral memorandum of cooperation in the gas sector. According to him, one of the steps to ensure Ukraine’s energy independence will be the establishment of LNG supplies through Poland.
