Social media and instant messaging blocked in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry asked citizens to treat “with understanding what is happening” due to the closure of social networks.

The Azerbaijani authorities have blocked social media, instant messaging and video hosting services following the escalation of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. On Monday, September 28, the NetBlocks service reports.

Clarifies that access is limited to platforms Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn и Twitter, Zoom и Skype. The restrictions were introduced to “prevent large-scale provocations by Armenia.”

At the same time, Azerbaijan managed to preserve the rest of the Internet.
