Alexandria was able to pass through the defensive redoubts of Lviv

As part of the ninth round of the Ukrainian championship, Oleksandriya hosted PFC Lviv. In the last round, Lviv achieved its first victory, sensationally beating Vorskla, and immediately dropped the last place in the standings. Vladimir Sharan’s team still looks extremely unstable, and the current positions of the “yellow-blacks” undoubtedly do not suit the leadership of the “citizens”.

The match began with active actions by the home team, which clearly intended not to delay the determination of the winner of the match. Lviv concentrated large forces near his own penalty area and did not even think of a counter-offensive. The main task of the “blue-gold” was to maintain the initial attack of the rivals, and the guests succeeded. The possessions of the hero of the last round, Orest Kostik, had constant tension, but the matter did not come to the real threats to the goal.

The Alexandrians began creating moments after the first twenty minutes. Vantukh did not hit Kostik with a shot from outside the area, and then the goalkeeper reacted to Sitalo’s header. At the same time, the ball bounced towards Banada, who, from the goalkeeper’s limits, launched a soccer projectile over the empty goal. Kostik became the hero of the episode and then Luchkevich shot from the corner of the penalty area. The ball flew in the direction of the approaching Sitalo, but it was the goalkeeper’s touch that prevented the Alexandria striker from claiming a goal.

In the attack before the break, Lviv remembered nothing. But this circumstance hardly bothered them: in the first part, the guests managed to keep their goal intact and to reject the aggressive attacks of Alexandria.

In the second half, the pattern of play has not changed. The Alexandrians attacked, the Lvovites fought back. In addition, the guests did it quite successfully, because Sharan’s charges did not manage to aggravate the situation. The “yellowish” tried to join the movement, but that did not pay off for the local team. And yet the defense of the guests wavered and trouble fell on the people of Lviv out of nowhere. After a corner cross, the ball bounced off Klimenchuk’s upper arm and the referee pointed to the 11-meter mark. Tretyakov struck from the “spot” just below the left post.

In the future, the Alexandrians slowed down the pace, starting to play for the result. The guests still failed to build an attacking game, but the scoreboard was already forcing them to go on the offensive with more determination. Until the final whistle, the guests could not create problems for the defense of the opponents, and Oleksandriya scored a minimal victory. At the same time, the “townspeople” for the first time in the season managed not to miss.

After the league break due to national team matches, Sharan’s team will face a difficult test against Shakhtar, while Lviv will face Desna in an away game.
