The Central Election Commission has restored the registration of the mayor of Uman, Alexander Tsebriy, in local elections.
This was reported by “Strana” with reference to the CEC on Tuesday, September 29. The motives of the Uman territorial electoral commission for not allowing Tsebriy to participate in the elections were found to be negligible.
At 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, the TEC is obliged to reconsider the request of the mayor of the city and register him as a candidate for the elections, if no other infractions are found.
“They ordered the Uman TEC to reconsider and report the results to the CEC,” Tsebriy confirmed.
As OBOZREVATEL wrote, previously Dnipro Mayor Boris Filatov said in a live broadcast on Ukrainian television that the people’s deputy Anton Yatsenko was behind the removal of Uman boss Alexander Tsebriy from the elections. He called on the leaders of the parliamentary factions to influence the situation and give city residents the right to choose a mayor. According to media reports, Yatsenko controls 12 of the 18 commission members in Uman.
Yatsenko himself did not deny their participation to the removal of the mayor of Uman from the local elections. And Tsebriy demanded the annulment of the decision of the territorial electoral commission to deny him to appear in local elections, saying that this decision is political, since he is an “inconvenient candidate”.
