European ambassadors in Alexievich
Nobel laureate Alexievich remains the only fugitive from the Presidium of the Coordinating Council.
The ambassadors of Lithuania, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Slovakia and the Czech Republic in Belarus came to the home of Nobel laureate Svetlana Aleksievich to protect her from arrest. Lithuania’s Deputy Ambassador Asta Andrijauskienė told The Insider about this in a comment.
According to her, the first to arrive were the Lithuanian ambassador, Andrius Pulokas, and she, immediately after Aleksievich’s message that strangers were trying to reach her.
Andrijauskienė also said that there were many journalists in the apartment. The security forces tried to enter through the entrance, but were not allowed.
“Svetlana made it very specific that she does not want to leave the country, that she wants to stay with people in Belarus, although she has many opportunities to leave,” said the diplomat.
As you know, Aleksievich is the only representative of the Presidium of the Opposition Coordination Council at the moment who has not yet been arrested and is not abroad.
