The head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the situation in Donbass, Leonid Kravchuk, points out that the Russian Federation, as the occupying country, does not support the establishment of peace in Donbass.
As a UNIAN correspondent reports, Kravchuk said this on the air of “Savik Shuster’s Freedom of Speech” program.
He said militants in Donbass are not deciding whether to cease fire, as the Kremlin decides on this issue.
“The main thing is that Russia itself does not want to cease fire,” Kravchuk said.
In particular, he recalled that on March 31, at the TCG meeting, it was proposed to adopt an appeal for a ceasefire in Donbas, but the representative of the Russian Federation Boris Gryzlov said that “Russia does not support such a call.”
“This means that neither Russia, and of course, nor its satellites are ready to cease fire and they are not ready for peace in Donbass. They do not need peace in Donbass. This is the most important thing and we must start from this.” Kravchuk.
In his opinion, Russia is not yet ready to perceive Ukraine as an independent state.
“President Putin believes that Ukraine is not a state and that it should be destroyed,” Kravchuk said.
At the same time, the head of the Ukrainian delegation believes that it is not necessary to dramatize the situation, that the war is “at the doors”, but that every day we must strengthen the defense and unity of society.
