The Health Ministry requested almost 300 billion hryvnia for medical care next year, but will receive almost half.
The Health Ministry asked to budget next year’s budget for the purchase of vaccines against the coronavirus in the amount of UAH 15.1 billion, but in the revised project, only UAH 2.6 billion. This was announced on Tuesday, December 1, by the head of the department, Maxim Stepanov.
“In the budget request, we presented UAH 15.1 billion for vaccination against COVID-19. We calculated exactly who we should vaccinate based on the prices announced by world manufacturers. Now the budget costs UAH 2.6 billion. We cannot do this. I will endure, I will fight and I will count on the people’s deputies a lot, “he said.
According to him, the funding was calculated for the vaccination of all risk groups.
“We calculate that it is necessary to vaccinate all risk groups: medical workers, educators, National Police, other professions, as well as people over 65, people who have concomitant diseases,” he said.
The minister also recalled that the Ministry of Health requested to allocate 296 billion UAH for medicines in 2021, and the draft budget submitted to parliament provides for 159 billion UAH. “This is the amount that is really needed to be treated,” he emphasized.
Stepanov noted that 296 billion hryvnia were pledged to increase doctors’ salaries and buy drugs for hospitals and for cancer treatment and for vaccination against COVID-19.
