Today a traditional women’s march was held in Minsk. Unmarked security officials and unidentified people in plain clothes detained protesters, passersby and journalists. The Viasna Human Rights Center reported 57 detainees.

The women approached Victory Square with posters “Lukashenko in a rice cart”, “We defeat the Nazis, we will defeat the inhumans”, “Sveta is the president.”
Participants in the march often remembered Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, calling her their president, the TUT.BY portal reported. The protesters also shouted: “Bring back our Masha,” that is, Tikhanovskaya’s comrade in arms Maria Kolesnikova, whose arrest lasted until November 8.
Upon seeing several riot police in Victory Square, the column of women turned around and returned to Yakub Kolas Plaza.
Men with balaclava and black helmets arrested women on Independence Avenue near gym number 23… In total, the correspondent for Radio Svaboda counted about a dozen minibuses with riot police on the avenue.
At the rally, a journalist from the Nasha Niva Yekaterina Karpitskaya newspaper, TUT.BY journalists Alyaksandra Elbaum and Maria Vaitovich from Euroradio were arrested, Belsat reported on Telegram.
Women’s marches in Belarus are held on Saturdays. They are dedicated to disagreeing with the fraud in the country’s presidential elections, against the violence of the security forces and the arrest of peaceful protesters.
A week ago, on September 19, 259 people were arrested in this march. On September 12, several people were also arrested in the women’s march in Minsk.
Mass protests in Belarus began on August 9 and continue to this day. Its participants believe that the results of the presidential elections were falsified. According to official data, Alexander Lukashenko won the victory with 80.1% of the voters. Tikhanovskaya ranked second with 10.1% of the vote. At the same time, alternative exit polls showed the opposite picture: Tikhanovskaya’s confident victory.
The Belarusian security forces violently dispersed the demonstrations, in particular with the use of stun grenades, rubber bullets and water cannons. During the protests, about 10,000 protesters were detained and hundreds were injured and wounded. According to official figures, four protesters died.
