The Cabinet of Ministers will be forced to introduce a strict quarantine in Ukraine in January. A full list of restrictions will be presented at a government meeting on December 9.
Prime Minister Denis Shmygal announced this on Facebook.
According to him, the weekend quarantine stabilized the epidemic situation and unloaded the medical system. This week, the number of recovered patients exceeded the number of new patients by three times.
“However, considering the dynamics of morbidity, we assume that more stringent quarantine measures should be introduced in January,” Shmygal said.
He noted that they are working with local authorities on a list of possible restrictions. Today they support a ban or restriction of activities:
- festive concerts, discos and nightclubs, public events on the premises, hostels, shopping and entertainment centers – 100%
- museums, cinemas and theaters, catering establishments with leisure activities – 95%
- holiday fairs, gyms and fitness centers – 90%
At the same time, local authorities are in favor of partial restrictions on public transport (which carries only seated passengers), restaurants (delivery or take-away) and hotels (without entertainment and food areas).
We will recall, previously, the chief medical officer, Viktor Lyashko, said that the closure in January will reduce the number of cases of COVID-19 infection to 6-8 thousand per day.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that he had recommended not introducing a blockade in December.
