Of the 13 Ukrainians who were members of the crew of the sunken ship “Volgo Balt 179”, 10 people were rescued and are looking for one more.
On the morning of March 11, the dry cargo ship Volgo Balt 179 sank in the Black Sea, which was sailing from the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don to the Romanian port of Constanta. This was reported by the Romanian company Grup Servicii Petroliere, which is dedicated to the oil business.
The ship’s crew consisted of 13 Ukrainian sailors, one of whom was a woman.
Two people are known to have died in the shipwreck, another is missing.
10 sailors were rescued.
Grup Servicii Petroliere points out that the rescue operation is carried out in “extremely difficult climatic conditions”: the height of the waves reaches four meters.
News.ro representatives of the Romanian Agency for the Rescue of Human Life at Sea (ARSVOM) reported that the tanker sank about 70 nautical miles (about 130 km) from Constance.
The ship was built in 1973 and has recently flown the Comoros flag.
