The supply of the new water intake on the Belbek river has not yet been brought to its maximum capacity

The volume of water that is planned to get from the Belbek river during the spring flood will close the problem of water shortage in Sevastopol for six months.

In annexed Crimea, a new water intake was built on the Belbek river to supply water to Sevastopol. It has been launched in test mode and works flawlessly, “Lieutenant Governor” Nikolai Zhigulin said, TASS reports Tuesday, March 2.

“In test mode, with no loads, work is underway. We test the equipment, we see how all the mechanisms, measurement units, automation behave. In the morning there were no failures. The washing is completely finished, the tanks on the site – 4 thousand cubic meters – are filled. Work regularly, no failures to date “, – said Zhigulin.

According to him, the supply of the new water intake has not yet been brought to its maximum capacity.

“This is an experimental operational supply, not yet in the volumes we plan. Today we are testing the equipment, we are seeing how all the mechanisms behave. When everything is already working in the next few days, of course, we will supply water from the reservoir of Chernorechensky (from which the city is now supplied) we will limit it to accumulate it there, to accumulate it for the dry period of the summer, “he said.

The water intake was built by the forces of the RF Ministry of Defense. The volume of water that is planned to get from the Belbek river during the spring flood will close the problem of water shortage in Sevastopol for six months.

According to the “deputy governor” of Sevastopol, the intake of water from the Kadykovsky quarry is now also being carried out and is expected to be completed in early June. In addition, the city is implementing a three-year program to eliminate illegal taps and eliminate pipe leaks.

“No supply restriction schedules were introduced to the city, and it is not planned to do so in the near future,” Zhigulin said.

It was previously reported that in the Crimea, the reserves of the Simferopol and Zagorsk reservoirs have been depleted and the Balanovskoye reservoir is getting close to drying up.
