According to reports in the Georgian media, the attacker, who took hostages at the Bank of Georgia in Zugdidi, received the money he demanded. We can talk about the amount of $ 500 thousand.

The man, who took hostages today at the Bank of Georgia branch in Zugdidi, left the bank building at night with three hostages. It is reported by “Georgia Online”.

As he left, the attacker held a grenade in his raised hand.

The publication recalls that at the time of the hostage-taking there were 19 people in the bank branch.

According to Echo Kavkaza, the man’s demand was to pay him half a million dollars. He conveyed his demands through the hostage Irakli Kvaratskhelia. He went on the air via mobile phone and contacted the opposition television company Mtavari.

“The main thing is not to allow the riot police to go near the perimeter of the building. All invasion attempts will end fatally for all of us here,” Kvaratskhelia said on behalf of the attacker.

He said the hostages were in a serious psychological state, but that no one needed medical assistance.

Little by little, the attacker released the hostages.

The Rustavi 2 television channel reported that the money was delivered to the man with special equipment, after which he left the building with three hostages and allegedly headed for the helicopter.

According to the television channel, one of the three people with whom the attacker left the bank building is the head of the Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti regional police, Avto Galdava. According to unofficial information, he participated in the negotiations. It was Galdava who brought the kidnapper’s money with a bag and replaced the hostages.

Another hostage is allegedly Lasha Shengelia, cousin of the mayor of Zugdidi, Georgy Shengelia.
