This initiative is scandalous in two ways.
First, nationalists once again place themselves above the law, inventing special justice procedures for themselves. Second, this is done by the President, whom these “activists” declared war long ago.
Why Zelensky bets on such an obvious fight: the “Country” understood it.

On Tuesday, May 5, it emerged that the Office of the President is initiating the creation of a public council of war veterans in the Donbass and activists to participate in a high-profile case discussion. This was stated by OP chief Andrey Yermak during the online conference “Pandemic, reform, war and peace: a vision from the Ukrainian White House”, carried out by the American organization Atlantic Council.
“In the near future, with the assistance of the Presidential Office, a public council will begin to function, consisting of war heroes in the Donbas, activists and authorized people who are the conscience of our nation,” said Yermak.
According to him, the public council will consider high-profile cases, such as against Tatyana Chernovol, who is under house arrest on suspicion of murder during an assault on the office of the Party of Regions in 2014.
“All these cases, as with Chernovol, will be discussed by this council … A society that paid such a high price for its independence has the right to ask questions today, but without interfering with justice, public dialogue and without use bias policies, “said Yermak. However, he did not explain how the council would “discuss” the criminal case against Chernovol.
In addition, according to the OP chief, the council will work with the families of the fighters who died in the Donbass, discuss the rehabilitation of the ATO fighters, and oversee the exchange processes.
The Public Council can be created before the end of this week.
“We already have achievements, I think we can present it even before the end of this week,” said Yermak.
What does the Ermak initiative say?
Vladimir Zelensky in his film for the year of the presidency explained the lack of landings as follows: there is no power to dictate to the investigation and the court who to plant and who not to.
And indeed: formally, the Office of the Head of State is not a law enforcement agency.
However, Yermak’s initiative (and it is unlikely that it would have appeared without Zelensky’s knowledge) crosses out this thesis. There can only be one sense: influencing research. If it is not direct, then indirect.
For example, the council under the president condemns the preventive measure for Tatyana Chernovol. Given the status of the statement, it will unambiguously influence other decisions of investigators and judges. Many of whom do not want to argue with either the OP or the “activists”.
It has long been known that in Ukraine certain veterans of anti-terror operations and radical social activists have privileges to communicate with the law. However, Zelensky first decided to formalize these privileges. And now, after every attempt to bring the radicals to justice, they will scandalize not only under the walls of Bankova, but also within.
True, there are doubts that this is exactly what Zelensky would like. Therefore, the Public Council may meet once or twice, and then the format will stop.
Also, Ze already met veterans this way, after signing the “Steinmeier formula.” It absolutely didn’t end with anything. Gunpowders and nationalists organized the Steinmeier-Maidan against the President, despite persuasions and offers to live in peace. There were no more meetings.
Therefore, one of the versions of the creation of the Public Council is blasphemy. You must understand that Ermak expressed his idea not somewhere, but at the conference of the Atlantic Council, an influential American organization close to the Democrats and Trump’s opposition policy.
It was this wing of the American elite that supported Ukrainian “activists” all the years before. Therefore, it is possible that Ermak simply said what they wanted to hear from him: he brought guarantees of loyalty to the “authorized persons”.
Salutations to the new ambassador
Furthermore, there is a direct reason to demonstrate such loyalty.

The nationalists (with strong ties to the Ukrainian diaspora like Suprun), Poroshenko, a part of the “fools” (Goncharuk and Ryaboshapka), who have been removed from power, as well as their support group in the Rada in the person of ” Voices “and some” servants of the people “are constantly reporting to the embassy and directly to Washington that Zelensky is an unreliable person. And even more unreliable, his best friend and comrade-in-arms, Yermak, who is still struggling to figure something out there with Kozak and Russia.
Naturally, when General Dayton arrives in Ukraine, these talks will intensify many times and he will constantly begin to whisper: “Ermak, take a closer look at Yermak, look at Yermak, Yermak is preparing the bomb.” And, in the end, Americans can believe this concept and declare Yermak the main evil, forcing Zelensky to give it up.
That is why Ermak at the Atlantic Council tried to convince the Americans: “I am mine, I am mine.” And he voiced all kinds of games, like creating a public council on “activist issues.”
But only one thing tells you: globally, this will not help you. In the eyes of his current enemies, he will remain “unreliable” and will also continue to work with him against the Americans. And in the eyes of the appropriate, Yermak will replenish the list of people who seemed more or less ropes. But unfortunately they just seemed. “
