Toyota is gradually developing its “sports” sub-brand GR (Gazoo Racing), previously known primarily in Japan, on the global market. As part of this program, a modified Toyota Corolla Altis GR Sport sedan was introduced last fall, but the first version for the Thai market differed from the base Corolla only in decorative changes. Now the car of the same name made its debut in Taiwan, and the volume of changes is more serious.

The Taiwanese Corolla with the prefix GR Sport differs from the Thai sister even in appearance: instead of the lining, it has a completely modified front bumper with a wide air intake. Other visual differences include 17-inch two-tone wheels, black mirror housings, a plastic body kit on the rapids and aft.
Inside, there are front seats with increased side support and two-tone “leather” upholstery. But in addition, the GR unit ended the suspension: thicker stabilizers and other shock absorbers appeared. Such a Corolla should lean less in the corners and have more precise handling.
Propulsion systems are standard: the Corolla Altis GR Sport can have a 1.8 (140 hp) vacuum with a CVT or a hybrid power plant (122 hp) as part of a 1.8 (98 hp) engine, an electric motor (72 hp.) and electromechanical variator. But paddles of change appeared.
In Taiwan, for a Toyota Corolla Altis GR Sport sedan, you must pay a minimum of $ 27,700, while the “normal” versions start at $ 23,400. In addition, such “sporty” versions of the Corolla sedan may later appear on other markets. And the hatchback is also expected to have a full GR modification with a more powerful engine!
