According to Lyashko, the losses of the Ukrainian economy from quarantine cannot be compared with the losses from the loss of people.
The government cannot cancel quarantine measures in Ukraine on May 11. This was stated by the head of state health services, Viktor Lyashko, on the air of the program “Freedom of expression” on the ICTV channel, reports RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, in this case in Ukraine there can be up to 100,000 deaths from the coronavirus COVID-19.
“We have several forecasts that show that if we free our country from quarantine on May 11 completely and without anti-epidemic measures, then we can expect different scenarios. According to one of the forecasts, we can have up to 100,000 deaths.” – Lyashko said
According to him, if you have the economy, there could be a loss of $ 54 billion due to the loss of human resource capacity, which makes a certain contribution to GDP.
“Two or three months after the country’s quarantine, these losses in the economy cannot be compared to the loss of human life that could occur in Ukraine if the government does not respond,” added Lyashko.
Let us remember, on May 4, that the Cabinet of Ministers decided to extend the quarantine until May 22. At the same time, the extension of the quarantine will not affect the beginning of the relaxation of the quarantine restrictions, which are scheduled for May 11.
Earlier, Prime Minister Denis Schmigal said new decisions will be made regarding the extension or removal of the quarantine depending on the situation with the global coronavirus pandemic.
