According to Ukrainian scientists, Ukraine is approaching the peak of COVID-19 infections
The maximum incidence of coronavirus in Ukraine is likely to occur before mid-May. This was during a video conference organized by the Atlantic Council, said the head of the Office of President Andrei Yermak.
According to him, such a forecast for the development of the epidemiological situation was expressed by Ukrainian scientists.
“Our scientists say we expect a peak before mid-May,” said Yermak.
Previously, the Ministry of Health said that quarantine restrictions allowed Ukraine to avoid the maximum incidence of coronavirus.
In late April, experts from the National Academy of Sciences predicted that the peak of new cases of COVID-19 will tentatively occur from May 2 to 5 and the peak of deaths on May 3 and 10.
However, according to Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, Ukraine is approaching a moderate plateau for the spread of the infection. Starting May 11, the government is preparing to ease some of the bans. At the same time, the quarantine was extended until May 22.
In Ukraine, on May 4, 12,331 cases of coronaviruses were confirmed, including 418 in the last 24 hours. 303 Ukrainians died of infection.
