Quarantine in Ukraine helped prevent a repeat of the Italian situation with COVID-19

In Ukraine, during the last day, 502 new cases of coronavirus infection have been registered. The total number of infected at the moment is 11,913. 288 cases became fatal and 1,547 patients recovered after COVID-19.

According to the Ministry of Health, 11,411 cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in Ukraine. 1,498 patients were successfully treated, 279 people died from complications of the disease. A total of 122,752 Ukrainians were tested by PCR tests.

Chief Medical Officer Viktor Lyashko said the quarantine helped prevent a situation where it would be necessary to introduce patient selection, to whom to provide medical care and to whom not.
Lyashko also noted that in the event of premature removal from quarantine, the number of deaths by the end of the year could reach 140,000. Kyiv School of Economics provided a forecast that coronavirus mortality in 2020 will be 120-140 thousand cases with the complete cancellation of quarantine as of May 12. .

As of May 1, the easing of restrictions in Zhitomir was also announced, allowing hairdressing and grocery markets to operate, and cafes and restaurants to serve customers on the go.
The Dnieper mayor announced the opening on April 30 of hairdressers, dry cleaners, service stations, repair shops. Walks will be allowed from May 4 on the city embankment and in various green areas of the Dnieper.
