National Police investigators began sanitary inspections to identify possible violations in Cherkassy after the mayor’s decision to weaken the quarantine.

The prosecutor’s office recalled that criminal proceedings were initiated in Cherkassy for the weakening of the quarantine.
“Currently, the investigation is ongoing, investigators and process managers have developed a plan of primary (search) investigation actions, steps are being taken to conduct a full, impartial and thorough investigation of the circumstances.” says the report.
As UNIAN reported, since April 30 in Cherkassy quarantine restrictions have been relaxed. On May 1, the police initiated criminal proceedings due to the mitigation by the Cherkassy authorities of the quarantine measures introduced to counteract the spread of the coronavirus.
Internal Affairs Minister Arsen Avakov warned Cherkasy Mayor Anatoly Bondarenko of his readiness to resort to a difficult response due to the relaxation of quarantine measures.
Ukraine’s Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov condemned the Cherkasy authorities’ decision to ease the quarantine restrictions.
Cherkass Mayor Bondarenko, however, believes there is no threat of a coronavirus outbreak in the city.
