Traffic jam on the Suez Canal: oxygen delayed for hospitals in the Kharkiv region

Oxygen delivery to Kharkiv region hospitals delayed

The oxygen barrels, clogged due to the accident, will be delivered to Ukraine on April 4, pending the Kharkiv Regional State Administration.

The delivery of oxygen barrels for COVID hospitals in the Kharkiv region is delayed due to the situation in the Suez Canal. This was stated by the deputy head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Mikhail Chernyak, reports Interfax-Ukraine on Friday, April 2.

We are talking about the supply of two barrels for the regional hospital for childhood infectious diseases, one for the dispensary for radiological protection of the population, as well as three-cubic barrels for the Volchansky and Bogdukhovsky districts of the region.

Chernyak expects the barrels to be delivered to the region next week.

“The barrels, which I spoke about earlier… are still on the way. Due to the current situation in the Suez Canal, the ship is moving late. We received letters from the transport company, the port of Ukraine. Consequently, within the next week those barrels we are talking about will be with us, for the “Chernobyl” hospital, for the regional hospitals, for the hospital for infectious diseases in children, we are waiting for them, “said the official.

Shipping agent Leth Agencies reports that the number of vessels waiting in line in the Suez Canal has dropped to 206. According to the Gulf Agency Company (GAC), 80 vessels will pass through the canal on Friday.

Let us remember that on March 22, the container ship Ever Given ran aground with a displacement of 220 thousand tons and a length of 400 meters, blocking the most important transport artery for the passage of ships. The ship was only refloated on March 29. Egyptian authorities said they were losing around $ 14 million a day due to the blockade of the Suez Canal.
