The Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow sent a protest note to the Russian Foreign Ministry regarding the action against Ukraine.
On March 30 and 31, unknown persons in Moscow posted billboards near the Ukrainian embassy with posters reading “Crimea is Russia,” as well as photographs of Ukrainian diplomats. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The Foreign Ministry reported that the posters contained photographs of embassy diplomats and offensive comments. Damage was also reportedly caused to an official car of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission, which was parked in the city.
Diplomats regard this provocation as another flagrant violation by Russia of the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. The Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow sent a protest note to the Russian Foreign Ministry regarding the action against Ukraine.
“We demand that the Russian side take urgent measures to carry out a thorough investigation of what happened, bring the perpetrators to justice, prevent such actions in the future and guarantee the conditions for personal safety and immunity for Ukrainian diplomats. in the Russian Federation, “he added. the message says.
UNIAN Moscow correspondent Roman Tsimbalyuk posted photos of the posters on his Facebook. In particular, they read: “For the information of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine: Crimea is Russia”, “For information of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine: Crimea is Russia.” In addition to photographs of diplomats, there is a map of the occupied peninsula painted in the colors of the Russian flag.
The journalist points out that photographs of embassy employees are used exactly the same as on diplomatic cards issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The action, held in Moscow, literally copies a similar one, held in Ukraine on March 16, on the anniversary of the annexation of Crimea. Then, in Kiev, photographs of Russian diplomats appeared on posters with an “acknowledgment” of spying in Ukraine and the fact of the occupation of the Crimean peninsula. The posters were posted near the diplomatic missions of the Russian Federation and other states.
The Russian Foreign Ministry regarded the posters as an insult and sent a protest note to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry regarding the “provocative action”.
Russia occupied Crimea after the power blockade of Ukrainian military units and illegal referendum on March 16, 2014… Ukraine and most of the countries of the world do not recognize the accession of the peninsula to the Russian Federation.
