Canadian sanctions aligned with EU and UK action
The assets of Russians and Russian companies will be frozen. They are prohibited from doing business in Canada.
Canada has imposed sanctions against two Russian citizens and four Russian companies associated with the construction of the Crimean bridge. This was reported on the Government of Canada website.
“Foreign Minister Mark Garneau today announced new sanctions against two individuals and four organizations … in response to Russia’s illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” the statement said.
So, under the sanctions were:

The general director of Grand Service Express (operator of railway communications with Crimea), Alexander Ganov;

Mostotrest boss Leonid Ryzhenkin;

JSC Lenpromtransproekt;

Crimean Railway FSUE;

Crimean First Insurance Company;

OJSC administration for the construction of the Berkakit-Tommot-Yakutsk railway.
At the same time, Canada called on Russia to release all political prisoners and end the annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula.
As noted in the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the new sanctions are coordinated with actions by the EU and the UK, are coordinated with Australia, and complement previously imposed restrictions.
The restrictive measures involve the freezing of assets of Russians and companies in the Russian Federation and the prohibition of business operations in Canada.
The day before, new sanctions against Russia were announced in the United States. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said the administration “will take the necessary steps when and where they are chosen.” However, he declined to provide specific details.
