The Russian propagandists’ statements as a “manipulative and audacious invasion” of Ukrainian culture, the ministries stressed.

In the Rossotrudnichestvo organization, propagandists called Taras Shevchenko a “Russian-Ukrainian poet”; the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called it “a manipulative and daring usurpation of the aggressor country in the historical, cultural and philosophical heritage” of the poet. In Kiev, on March 9, the Russian Center for Science and Culture, a branch of the State Agency of the Russian Federation Rossotrudnichestvo, organized an event Summarizing the results of the International Creative Competition of Contemporary Poets on the day of remembrance of the Russians. -Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko. In turn, the Foreign Ministry said they “deny any Russian narrative about Shevchenko.”

“The national self-identification of Kobzar, an irreconcilable fighter for the national and spiritual revival of Ukraine, the liberation of our homeland from the oppression of Russia, cannot raise any doubt,” the statement said.

The department added that the Russian Center, founded in 1998, is the only state institution of the Russian Federation in Ukraine with functions of cultural representation.

Finally, the NSDC said that it would consider the issue of terminating the activities of this organization, if a corresponding presentation is received from the president or another subject of legislative initiative.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported on the record number of Shevchenko monuments. Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko became the world record holder for the number of monuments erected to him: 99 monuments in 44 countries and more than a thousand in Ukraine.
