In 2020, Ukraine’s gross external debt amounted to $ 125.69 billion.
Last year, the amount of the country’s debts with external creditors exceeded the indicator for the 2015 crisis.
In 2020, Ukraine’s gross external debt increased by $ 3.951 billion and reached $ 125.69 billion. At the same time, the amount of debt exceeded the level reached at the end of the third quarter of 2015 ($ 124.03 billion). This will be reported on the NBU website.
It is observed that in relation to GDP, the debt in 2020 increased from 78.6% to 83.4%.
It is also reported that during the IV quarter of 2020, the debt increased by $ 3.510 billion. The main growth factors were government operations and the real sector of the economy.
During the quarter, the external debt of the public sector increased by $ 3,000 million and amounted to $ 54,700 million (36.3% of GDP). At the same time, the external liabilities of the private sector increased (by $ 500 million), which as of December 31, 2020 amounted to $ 71 billion (47.1% of GDP).
The external liabilities of the general government sector in the fourth quarter of 2020 increased by $ 2.8 billion to $ 47.8 billion (31.7% of GDP) as a result of the government’s participation in foreign markets and international partners for an amount of $ 2.2 billion.
The external debt of the central bank in the fourth quarter of 2020 as a result of the growth of the SDR exchange rate increased by $ 155 million and amounted to $ 6.9 billion (4.6% of GDP at the end of 2020).
The volume of external liabilities of the sector of other depository companies of Ukraine in the reporting quarter decreased from 4.0 to 3.7 billion dollars (2.4% of GDP) as a result of long-term Eurobond payments from banks for 0.4 thousand millions of dollars.
It was previously reported that in November 2020, Ukraine’s national debt increased by $ 1 billion. As a result, the national debt in dollar terms exceeded 84 billion, and in hryvnia it almost reached 2.4 trillion.
The amount of state debt payments in March amounted to almost three billion dollars. At the same time, the amount for the year will be almost 600 billion hryvnia.
