On Sunday March 21, in Ostersund, Sweden, the women’s mass start took place as part of the tenth stage of the World Cup.
The Ukrainian Julia Dzhima in the middle of the race was the only biathlete who hit all 10 targets in prone shot, thanks to which she was the leader for a certain time and claimed a medal. However, in the third stage, the 30-year-old from Kiev missed four goals at once and flew out of the top 10.
Interestingly, with five total penalties for the race, Jim became one of the best snipers of the race. The 30 participants made many mistakes due to the severe weather conditions. Jim finished 12th. Germany’s Janina Hettich made the fewest errors, with just four penalty loops and ninth place, the second-best result of her career.
The French Julia Simone performed with the red bib of the leader of the discipline. This season, he managed to win two massive starts at once, but March 21 is clearly not his day. Julia closed only 5 goals out of 20, and after 15 penalty laps, the fact that she found the motivation to run last to the finish line is already an achievement. Unfortunately, this did not help him win the first Globe of his career.
Ingrid Tandrevold won the massive start classification, which was ahead of Belarusian Dinara Alimbekova in the fight for the gold medal on the last lap. Franziska Preuss finished third. The German woman would be quite satisfied with second place in such a situation, because Tandrevold’s final lag in qualifying was only three points.
Race results:
1. Ingrid-Landmark Tandrevold (0 + 1 + 3 + 1) 34: 53.1
two. Dinara Alimbekova (1 + 2 + 0 + 3) +6.9
3. Francisco Preuss (0 + 1 + 4 + 1) +11.1
…
12. Julia Dzhima (0 + 0 + 4 + 1) +56.6
