The so-called decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin prohibiting foreigners from owning land in annexed Crimea is void and has no legal consequences for Ukraine.
This was reported to OBOZREVATEL by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleg Nikolaenko.
“The ban on owning land in most regions of Crimea is in line with the Russian policy of oppression, discrimination and displacement of Ukrainian citizens from the temporarily occupied peninsula,” he said.
Nikolayenko pointed out the legal invalidity of such a “decree” by Putin.
“After the restoration of the sovereignty of our state in Crimea, the violated rights of the legal owners to the plots will be restored,” he stressed.
The diplomat added that the question of depriving Ukrainians of land ownership in Crimea will be discussed on the Crimean platform this year.
“Russia once again demonstrates a defiant disregard for the fundamental norms and principles of law, including international law. Such actions will not be left without a proper assessment by the international community,” Nikolayenko summarized.
