Due to the significant spread of the coronavirus in Kiev, a strict quarantine will be introduced from March 20. The strict restrictions will be in effect for three weeks, until April 9 inclusive.

What prohibitions will apply in Kiev?

The Metropolitan Commission for Emergency Situations has decided to introduce enhanced quarantine restrictions. Under the prohibition, in particular:

  • work of cinemas, theaters, museums, concert halls;
  • the work of shopping and entertainment centers (except grocery stores, pharmacies, pet stores, stores that sell hygiene products and household chemicals);
  • conducting religious services (if the area of ​​the premises is not less than 10 square meters per person);
  • the realization of massive events (entertainment, sports, cultural, advertising and others), as well as the presence of spectators in sports competitions.

What will be allowed in Kiev?

In relation to the difficult epidemic situation regarding the spread of the coronavirus infection, during the next three weeks, all companies and organizations in the capital will work with certain peculiarities. These include, in particular, the following:

  • all companies and organizations in the public sector are switching to teleworking;
  • private companies should also switch to remote working as much as possible (except for critical infrastructure companies);

  • catering establishments will operate exclusively for take out;
  • service stations will be open subject to strict regulations and without a cafeteria;
  • hairdressing salons, beauty salons, fitness and gyms will work by appointment (but gyms, not group classes);
  • kindergartens will be open and schools will switch to distance learning after the holidays;
  • The capital’s public transport will continue to function normally, complying with the strict regulations on passenger transport and masking, as well as with an occupation of 50% of the seats.
