The Russian embassy called the US accusations unfounded
At the Russian Embassy in the United States, intelligence findings on interference in the 2020 presidential elections were deemed unfounded.
Information from US intelligence officials about Russia’s interference in the 2020 presidential elections in the United States does not correspond to reality and is not confirmed by any fact. This is stated in a statement from the Russian Embassy in the United States, published on Wednesday March 17 on Facebook.
“The document prepared by the intelligence community of the United States is another set of unfounded accusations against our country of interfering in the internal American political processes,” the diplomatic department said in a statement.
Furthermore, the report states that “Washington continues the practice of ‘megaphone diplomacy’, the main objective of which is to maintain a negative environment in Russia.”
The embassy also noted that the United States blames “external actors” for what is happening within the country.
“It is unlikely that this attitude of the administration corresponds to our proposal for an equal and mutually respectful dialogue of experts to find solutions to the most urgent problems. Washington’s actions do not contribute to the normalization of bilateral relations,” the authors summarized from the post.
Recall that the US intelligence report says that Iran and Russia interfered in the 2020 US presidential elections. Russian intelligence agencies spread misinformation about US President Joe Biden, while Iranians tried to undermine Donald Trump’s support.
The same document establishes that sanctions will be introduced against the aforementioned countries, which, according to media reports, the White House will announce next week.
