Critical situation with coronavirus in Transcarpathia

In the Transcarpathian region, there is a critical situation with the incidence of coronavirus. This was announced on Monday, March 8, by the chief physician of the regional hospital for infectious diseases clinics Mikhail Polyak.

According to him, during the last week the number of cases increased by 24%, every day more than 500 new cases are detected, 12 people die.

There is an increase in incidence among children, by 5%, as well as among people aged 35 to 45 years.

All the intensive care rooms of the regional clinical hospital are full.

“This situation should lead Transcarpathians to think seriously and be conscientious in observing all quarantine restrictions,” Polyak said.

In turn, the chief physician of the regional clinical hospital that bears the name A. Novak Yuri Yatsyna said that by the end of the week the region could face a collapse of the medical system.

According to him, today there are 120 patients in this hospital who need oxygen therapy. And half of them should be in intensive care.

“And in the intensive care unit itself we only have 6 beds and it is impossible to expand it. Every day in our institution they use 25-30 oxygen cylinders, in the morning we only have 5. This will be enough until 4:00 pm. no more. And what can you tell me to do with this? How to save lives? Yatsyna pointed out.

He also urged people with COVID not to leave their homes.

As you know, as of today Transcarpathia has been moved to the “red” quarantine zone.

According to the Ministry of Health, today the hospitalization rate of patients with coronavirus has been exceeded in nine regions. The Ternopil region was added to this list.
