Ukrainian Volodymyr K., who was driving a bus with Ukrainian citizens in an accident in Poland, is charged with murder by Polish law enforcement officers.
Polish law enforcement officers accused 48-year-old Ukrainian Vladimir K. of a fatal accident in Poland involving a bus carrying Ukrainian citizens.
The Polish Press Agency (PAP) was informed about this by the Deputy District Attorney in Przemysl, Beata Starzhetska.
Vladimir K. was driving a bus, five passengers of whom died in the accident.
The charge is murder, Starzhetskaya said. Vladimir K. faces a prison sentence of up to eight years.
The investigation found that the driver was going to turn onto another road, but did not slow down enough. Shortly before the accident, the bus was moving, according to the instruments, at a speed of 45 km / h.
The bus traveled on the road itself at a speed of 95 km / h, which is not prohibited by the rules.
Vladimir K. was questioned at the hospital where he ended up after an accident. He claims that he does not remember the details of the accident.
On the night of March 6 in Poland, the Poznan-Kherson bus with 57 Ukrainians had an accident. He flew from the overpass into the ditch. First, there was information about six Ukrainians killed and 41 wounded. Later, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine clarified that not six Ukrainians died, but five.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported on 35 Ukrainian citizens hospitalized, were taken to hospitals in the cities of Przemysl, Yaroslav, Rzeszow, Lyubachev and Rudna Mala. Some of them were later discharged.
On the night of March 6, 24 passengers from the bus were sent to Ukraine.
According to the preliminary version, the bus driver lost control.
One of the injured passengers on the bus said the driver could fall asleep. “About 50 minutes before the incident, he passed out, he swerved hard onto an empty road. It was already clear that he fell asleep,” he said.
