Member of the French National Assembly, one of the richest Frenchmen, Olivier Dassault, died in a helicopter accident, reports AFP with reference to its sources.
Information about his death was confirmed by French President Emmanuel Macron.
“Olivier Dassault loved France. Industrial magnate, deputy, elected official, reserve air force officer – during his life he never stopped serving our country. His sudden death is a great loss. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones, ”Macron wrote on Twitter.
Olivier Dassot was born on June 1, 1951 in Boulogne-Billancourt, a suburb of Paris. He, along with his brothers and sister, are the heirs of French billionaire industrialist Serge Dassault.
According to Forbes magazine, the 69-year-old Dassault is worth an estimated five billion euros. Dassault, along with his two brothers, ranked 361 on the list of the richest people in the world.
The Dassault Group includes leading French daily Le Figaro and aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation. The latter produces multipurpose Rafale fighters.
Olivier Dassault has been an MP for the center-right Republicans since 2002. Due to his political career, he resigned from the board of directors of the Dassault Group to avoid conflicts of interest.
