On March 6, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine published a new list of adaptive quarantine zones: according to it, Kiev fell into the orange zone.

Earlier, the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers, Oleg Nemchinov, said that on Saturday an extraordinary meeting of the State Commission for Safety and Technogenic and Environmental Emergencies took place.

Today, March 6, a new list of quarantine zones of Ukraine appeared on the website of the Ministry of Health, according to indicator indicators to identify regions with a significant spread of COVID-19.

It refers to Kiev Orange zone (due to the excess of the hospitalization rate – as of March 6 it is 60.2 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while the norm is 60).

Besides Kiev, the following areas were in the orange zone:

  • Vinnytsia,
  • Donetsk,
  • Zaporizhzhya,
  • Kievskaya,
  • Lviv,
  • Nikolaevskaya,
  • Sumy,
  • Ternopil,
  • Khmelnitskaya

TO Red zone attributed to:

  • Transcarpathia,
  • Zhytomyr,
  • Ivano-Frankivsk,
  • Chernivtsi.

The rest of Ukraine’s regions remain in yellow zone quarantine.

What does the orange quarantine zone mean?

The orange zone is a sign of a worsening epidemiological situation.

In the orange zone do not impose additional restrictions – is just a warning to turn red.

The orange zone is entered if one of the following criteria is exceeded in the region:

  • the epidemiological threshold for the incidence of influenza and ARVI has been exceeded;
  • hospital beds for coronavirus patients are loaded more than 65%;
  • in seven days, the number of tests for coronavirus was less than 300 per 100,000 inhabitants;
  • in seven days the number of hospitalizations exceeds 60 per 100,000 of the population.
  • The detection rate for COVID-19 is over 20%;
  • the total number of hospitalizations increased by more than 50% in one week.

Red zone is entered if at least two of the above orange quarantine zone criteria are kept for three consecutive days. The measures in this area must take effect within 48 hours after such a situation.

The government extended the quarantine in Ukraine until April 30. The adaptive quarantine has been in effect in Ukraine since February 24. The same day the vaccination against the coronavirus began in the country, the first to receive the vaccines are the doctors, as well as the military personnel in the JFO area.

Recently, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Denis Shmygal, said that the third wave of incidence of COVID-19 had started in Ukraine and did not rule out a return to a harsh blockade for the entire country.
