The Russian Federation does not believe that the United States will impose sanctions on its national debt
The Kremlin hopes that the ideas of imposing American sanctions against Russian businessmen and the state debt of the Russian Federation will not be implemented.
Russian President Dmitry Pesko’s press secretary called the “craziest” sanctions the United States can impose against the Russian Federation, Interfax writes on Friday, March 5.
“No one has yet imposed sanctions against Russian businessmen, and we certainly hope that, let’s say, those insane impulses remain only on the pages of the media and do not find, let’s say, a living ground in the official American establishment,” he said, commenting on media reports that Washington may impose sanctions against various Russian businessmen and the state debt of the Russian Federation.
“Hypothetical reasoning is not appropriate here. Let’s wait still and see how events unfold,” Peskov replied when asked about Russia’s response to such sanctions.
Recall that the other day, the president of the United States, Joe Biden, extended for a year a series of sanctions previously imposed on Russia in relation to the situation in Ukraine and Crimea.
And before that, the US and the EU introduced new sanctions against the Russians in the case of Alexei Navalny, who in Moscow was seen as interference in the country’s affairs.
