The sanctions against the People’s Deputy of the Opposition Platform – For Life Viktor Medvedchuk are based on a legal basis that does not fundamentally violate the laws and norms of the OSCE and the Council of Europe. This was announced by the German Foreign Ministry.

The German Foreign Ministry noted that, according to preliminary data available to the German side, “the actions of the Ukrainian authorities are based on a legal basis that does not fundamentally violate the laws and norms of the OSCE and the Council of Europe.”
On February 19, the NSDC decided to impose sanctions against 19 legal entities and eight individuals: five Russian citizens (according to media reports, these are asset managers of the Medvedchuk family) and three Ukrainians: Medvedchuk himself, his wife Oksana Marchenko and Natalya Lavrenyuk. , whom the media called the common law wife of the HLE People’s Deputy Taras Kozak. It was decided to apply the restrictions to these individuals on the basis of an investigation conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine under the article on terrorist financing.
