The conscription of Ukrainian citizens for urgent military service will take place during April – June and during October – December 2021.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree on the schedule of the next conscripts for military service in 2021. The conscripts will not serve in the Donbass, the press service of the head of state said on Wednesday, February 24.

Thus, in accordance with the corresponding decree / 71/2021, this year it is planned that the transfer to the reserve of military personnel who have completed certain terms of military service will be carried out in April-July and in October-December.

“In January 2022, the military who were recruited in July 2020 (due to the spread of the acute respiratory disease COVID-19 in Ukraine) will be fired,” the document says.

According to the decree, “the recruitment of Ukrainian citizens for military service will take place during April – June and during October – December 2021.”

Commission drafts will begin work on April 1 and October 1, 2021, respectively. Preparatory activities for the draft will begin on March 1 and September 1, 2021.

“Conducting conscription for military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine ensures that the ratio of conscripts in relation to the proportion of contract military personnel is 15: 85%. Therefore, the proportion of conscripts in the total number of Troops will continue to decline every year, “the statement said.

The presidential press service recalls that conscripts recruited into the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations do not participate in the performance of combat missions in the area of ​​joint forces operation.

Last week it was reported that the rules of compulsory military service in Ukraine were changed. The innovations are expected to help improve the organization of recruitment commissions’ work and the procedure for notifying recruits about their participation.
