The Perseverance rover sends the first images to Earth

The device flew to the Red Planet for seven months. Today it sent the first two images from its surface.

The American Perseverance rover, which was sent to Mars in July last year, successfully landed on the surface of the Red Planet. This was announced on Thursday, February 18, on the website of the United States National Aerospace Agency (NASA).

“We have just received information that Perseverance is operating on the surface of Mars,” the agency said.

According to NASA, the rover’s landing process took around seven minutes. First, to reduce the vehicle’s speed, its parachute was opened, then the casing, designed to protect the rover from high temperatures, was detached, and finally the braking motors began to work.

At the same time, it is indicated that the device has already sent two images from the surface of the investigated space body.

Remember that the mission of the Perseverance rover is to find traces of existence in the distant past of life on Mars.

As reported, NASA experts have decided to abandon attempts to drill into the ground on Mars, because since the beginning of the Physical Properties and Heat Flux Package tool, technical problems have constantly arisen.
