Regulator approved Ukrenergo's rate increase

Ukrenergo rates will increase from April

Since April, Ukrenergo’s electricity transmission rates will rise 7.5%, although the company asked to include in them the deficit of 11 billion.

The National Energy and Public Services Commission approved an increase from April 1 of the electricity transmission rate for Ukrenergo by 7.5% from 293.93 UAH to 316.08 UAH / MWh.

The reason for the increase in the electricity transmission fee was the inclusion in its structure of an additional 1,495 billion UAH of expenses for the payment of interest on 10.25 billion UAH of loans from state banks taken by Ukrenergo for agreements with the company of Guaranteed Buyer.

At the same time, NEURCU, at the suggestion of Ukrenergo, refused to include in the tariff 11.35 billion UAH the shortfall of funds for the financial support of GarPok under the JI project for settlements with “green” generation.

The regulator explained the refusal by the fact that these funds can be included in the state budget of Ukraine until the end of 2021.

“Until now, we have not included at least 20% of the amount in Ukrenergo’s rate, but I don’t see the possibility of not including interest,” said the head of the National Energy and Electricity Generation Commission, Valeriy Tarasyuk.

As a reminder, on December 9, 2020, the NEURC reduced Ukrenergo’s tariffs by 6% (by 18.83 UAH / MWh), to 293.93 UAH / MWh (excluding VAT).
