The judge received six years in prison for bribery

The judge received bribes twice: in September 2018, $ 400 and in March 2019, 10,000 UAH.

The judge of the Rakhiv district court of the Transcarpathian region was sentenced to six years in prison for bribery. This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday, February 16.

“On February 16, 2021, by the verdict of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court, a judge of the Rakhiv District Court of the Transcarpathian region was found guilty and sentenced to 6 years in prison, who was convicted of corruption offenses in March of 2019, “the statement read.

The judge received bribes twice (in September 2018, $ 400 and in March 2019, UAH 10,000). For this money, he promised to assist in a positive decision in an administrative case, which was considered by another judge, as well as to consider in favor of the same applicant a civil case on debt collection. He received bribes in his office.

The sentence passed will take effect 30 days after the date of its announcement, unless an appeal is filed.

We will recall that earlier Odessa customs officials were caught accepting a bribe. The officials threatened the businessmen to delay the registration of the cargo and thus received up to $ 3,000 in bribes a month.

It was also reported that near Kiev, the investigator promised to “grease” the crime for $ 13,000. The law enforcement officer was informed of the suspicion of extortion and taking bribes, and the question of choosing a preventive measure is being decided.
