“Politically motivated persecution of Ukrainians for false accusations has become a common practice of the Russian occupation authorities. We consider the declaration adopted today to be an important additional instrument of pressure on the Russian Federation to release political prisoners. Ukrainians and prevent further violations of rights in the occupied territories, ”said the minister.

Kuleba also drew attention to the creation of the Crimean platform as a platform for consolidating international efforts to vacate Crimea and invited conference participants to participate in its inaugural summit this year.

Note that in October last year, Canada initiated the convening of an international conference to adopt a Declaration against the use of arbitrary arrest in interstate relations.

The goal of the initiative is to develop a global collective opposition to so-called “coercive diplomacy”, when states carry out arbitrary arrests of people for political gain in interstate relations. The initiative has already been supported by 52 states around the world, including Ukraine.
