Russia’s attempts to convince the international community that there are no Russian troops, weapons or mercenaries in Ukraine are no longer misleading, the head of the Ukrainian delegation told the trilateral contact group to resolve the conflict in Donbass, the first president of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk. , speaking at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

The process of negotiations in the trilateral contact group on the resolution of the conflict in Donbass is taking place in the context of the ongoing Russian aggression.

The head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG, the first president of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, recalled this, speaking on February 11 at a meeting of the UN Security Council, which is dedicated to the implementation of the Minsk agreements. The text of the speech is provided by the press service of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG on Facebook.

“We see restrictions on freedom of movement in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories, as well as a lack of safe and reliable access for the OSCE’s special monitoring mission, including the temporarily uncontrolled section of the Ukraine-Russia border and the Crimea temporarily occupied. The illegal crossing of the border section not controlled by Ukraine has become a common practice. Russian freight trains and convoys delivering weapons, ammunition and personnel to the temporarily occupied territory, “Kravchuk said.

Russia’s attempts to convince the international community that there are no troops, weapons or mercenaries in Ukraine no longer fool anyone, he stressed.

“In fact, the Russian Federation has converted certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, as well as Crimea, into its main military post,” summed up the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG.

Today’s meeting of the UN Security Council, dedicated to the status of implementation of the Minsk Agreements on the resolution of the conflict in Donbass, was convened by Russia. It took place online.

The meeting did not foresee final statements or resolutions, but Estonia, France, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Great Britain and Norway issued a joint statement in which they recalled support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The Special Representative of the Head of the OSCE in Ukraine, Heidi Grau, stated that negotiations within the TCG are at a standstill.

In 2014, immediately after the annexation of Crimea, Russia launched an armed aggression in eastern Ukraine. The fighting is between the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the one hand, and the Russian army and the Russian-backed militants who control parts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, on the other. The Russian Federation does not officially recognize its invasion of Ukraine, despite the facts and evidence presented by Ukraine.

Negotiations on the resolution of the conflict in Donbass are taking place in the trilateral contact group in Minsk (Ukraine, Russia, OSCE), as well as in the Normandy format, with the participation of representatives of Ukraine, France, Germany and Russia.

February 12, 2015 in Minsk the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany Petro Poroshenko, Vladimir Putin, François Hollande and Angela Merkel during 17-hour talks agreed on two documents on the resolution of the conflict in the Donbass – a statement on the implementation of the Minsk agreements and a set of measures for the implementation of the Minsk agreements. They provided for the cessation of hostilities in Donbass, the withdrawal of illegal armed groups from the region, the creation of conditions for holding elections to local authorities, etc. So far, the Minsk agreements have not been implemented.
