The leader of the German Christian Democratic Union, Armin Laschet, supported the idea of expanding the European Union and giving Ukraine a European perspective.

“We must support Ukraine on its difficult path and at the same time also open up a European perspective,” Melnyk said, quoting Laschet in an interview with German media.
