Zelensky recorded a video in Russian about the closure of television channels

Zelenskiy recorded a 16 minute long vlog in Russian. In it, he explained why he closed three opposition television channels.

The president began with a quote from Bulgakov: “Do not read the Soviet newspapers before dinner.” So he decided to “complement the classic”: “Don’t read corrupt media and watch pocket TV channels, if you don’t want to get a slice of selected, juicy nonsense for lunch.”

Ze further explained why he speaks Russian. He said that many Ukrainians, including the military, speak this language, so “we will not allow anyone to privatize this language and we will not give it away.”

At the same time, he immediately apologized for speaking a non-state language.

Zelensky began to refute the forgeries that Bulkagov’s books are banned in Ukraine (which, however, no one said, was an import ban). Then he showed the books of Bulgakov and Akunin bought in Kiev by the Russian publisher. To say that talking about a ban is “a blatant, cynical and dangerous lie.”

This is how the president brought the issue to a ban on television channels.

“Could anyone have imagined that I, a person who worked for 20 years in television, would introduce a decision against three television channels? … If, with all this, I made that decision, then there were compelling, concrete reasons, ”the president explained. Without specifying what the reasons are.

But he implied that the sanctioned deputy Kozak maintained contacts with the uncontrolled territories. But he did not pronounce his last name, declaring about some “people”. “Then the country will fight them. And this is also the norm.”

At the same time, Ze said that the SBU’s data on the motives, due to secrecy, could not be made public.

“These three channels contained talking armies, which zombified you. They said the government took their land. Saying that the government organized a tariff genocide,” the president explained.

He recalled that the decision to ban the channels was supported by the United States and the European Union.

Then Zelensky began to argue with Poroshenko, who said that he was the first to try to introduce these sanctions. The president asked why he did not.

Recall that on February 2, by decree of President Volodymyr Zelensky, the transmission of three television channels 112-Ukraine, NewsOne and Zik, was blocked.

“Strana” in his material has deciphered in detail what the consequences of the closure of television channels may be.

At the same time, the EU warned Ukraine against suppressing press freedom amid the closure of channels 112, NewsOne and Zik. For now, the European Union is studying this situation and will share its experience with our country in this matter.
