The deputy of Verkhovna Rada, leader of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk, in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper, mentioned the purpose of the impeachment of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
He noted that the current leader of the country is trying to establish a “dictatorship and usurp power.” According to him, the attempts to initiate the impeachment procedure is a response to “specific violations of the constitution and current legislation”.
“We want to present to the court of our citizens, politicians, those arguments that are the basis for activating this procedure and dismissing President Zelensky,” Medvedchuk said. He said that if other parties support the fight against Zelensky and his team, his party will.
On February 2, it was known that Zelensky put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on the application of sanctions against several television channels: 112 of Ukraine and regional channels under its logo, as well as ZIK and NewsOne. After his decree, they stopped broadcasting. Personal sanctions were also imposed on the deputy of the Platform Opposition – For Life party, Taras Kozak, owner of the Novosti media holding company. In this sense, the party “Opposition Platform – For Life” initiates the impeachment procedure of Zelensky.
