The Platform Opposition – For Life party called the sanctions against Ukrainian TV channels and MP Taras Kozak an act of usurpation of power and an attempt to kill dissidents. This is stated in a statement posted on the party’s website.
“Decree of the President of Ukraine [Владимира Зеленского] It is an act of usurpation of power, absolute censorship, a mechanism to establish dictatorship and tyranny in the country, a violation of all international principles and norms of democracy, ”said the party. It is also observed that no decree of the head of state can stop the operation of the television channel without the corresponding judicial decision.
It was previously known that Zelensky put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on the application of sanctions against several television channels: “112 Ukraine” and regional channels under its logo, as well as NewsOne. After his decree, the television channels stopped broadcasting. Personal sanctions were also imposed on the deputy of the Platform Opposition – For Life party, Taras Kozak, owner of the Novosti media holding company.
