Parliament is preparing the creation of a new law enforcement agency

The Office of Economic Security will replace the fiscal militia and will become the only body that will investigate economic crimes.

In Ukraine, the Economic Security Bureau (BEB) will soon appear. This was stated by the people’s deputy of the People’s Servant, the head of the Rada’s law enforcement committee, Denis Monastyrsky, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, which was published on Thursday, January 28.

At the same time, Monastyrsky noted that he sees a threat of a loophole in the field of financial investigations.

“Of course, there will be a certain window or chasm, because even if the BEB is created, it will take time to increase capacity and block at least the main lines of investigation,” Monastyrsky said.

At the same time, the head of the specialized financial committee of the Rada, Daniil Getmantsev (Servant of the People), dismisses the fears that a temporary vacuum will occur and there will be a “slack” of affairs due to the creation of a new body and the removal of the old.

“This time it is enough, if there is desire and will, to create a new body and liquidate the tax police,” he told RBC-Ukraine.

It is noted that, at this time, the parliament is very close to the creation of the Office of Economic Security. This department should replace the “outdated” tax police. In fact, the BEB will become the only law enforcement agency investigating economic crimes in the country.

As a reminder, in September 2020, the Rada supported the draft law on the Office of Economic Security of Ukraine as a basis.

It was also reported that on January 28, the people’s deputies plan to consider a law on the elimination of the tax police.
