Ukraine’s national team head coach Andriy Shevchenko is the favorite to replace Frank Lampard as Chelsea’s head coach, says The Sun, citing bookmaker Betfair.
On January 19, the Blues were defeated in the English Premier League (Premier League) at Leicester (0-2), forcing the press to speak once again about changing mentors.
Chelsea are in eighth place in the Premier League standings with just eight points from their last eight games, putting pressure on the 42-year-old Lampard from fans and management. Frank spent over £ 200 million on new players last summer, but has never been able to show results.
Shevchenko ranks first among all the candidates.
Last week, the 44-year-old Ukrainian was trading 66/1, but the “flurry of betting” forced bookmaker Betfair to cut rates first to 4/1 and then to 9/5.
The full list of possible candidates is as follows:
-
Andriy Shevchenko – 5/9
-
Thomas Tuchel – July 2
-
Massimiliano Allegri – July 2
-
Julian Nagelsmann – 2/15
-
Brendan Rogers – 2/15
-
Ralph Ranknik – 1/10
-
Didier Deschamps – 1/12
-
Ralph Hasenhuttl – 1/12
-
Claude Makelele – 1/16
As OBOZREVATEL reported, the first vice president of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) Oleg Protasov said that Andriy Shevchenko will remain the coach of our national team, despite rumors of a possible transfer to Chelsea.
