Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, arrested on his return from Germany, is in one of the police stations in the city of Khimki in the Moscow region.

The head of the regional network at its headquarters, Leonid Volkov, wrote about this on the Telegram channel. At the same time, Ukraine is going to raise the issue of the poisoning and arrest of a politician from the Russian Federation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

According to Navalny’s associate, his lawyer was not allowed to see him, although they promised to do so at 9 a.m. on January 18.

Before that, Volkov asked the supporters of the main Russian opponent to organize a guard under the compound, “to ensure that they will not take him to another place at night.”

It is known that on Tuesday, January 19, Alexei Navalny was supposed to address the PACE Legal Affairs Committee. According to the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Maria Mezentseva, despite his arrest in Moscow, his subsequent stay in a remand center and the court scheduled for January 29, the politician will hardly be able to participate in the event.

“Our delegation will use all possible tools that the regulations provide to take steps to discuss (urgent debates) and appeal against the powers of the Russian Federation, also based on these events,” announced on Facebook the appeal of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE in Navalny.

Mezentseva recalled that the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg ordered Russia to pay the Russian opposition politician and founder of the Anti-Corruption Fund Alexei Navalny more than 22 thousand euros.
