Elon Musk’s closest competitor in space tourism, the Blue Origin rocket company, founded by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, has successfully launched an upgraded New Shepard rocket into space.

Videos of incredible views from space published on the company’s Twitter on January 15. During a test flight, a returnable rocket propellant and passenger capsule were tested, according to the company’s website. (to see the video, scroll to the end of the story).

The company is working on a rocket for space tourists to view Earth from space and experience microgravity.

The test rocket, New Shepard, was launched from West Texas on January 14, at approximately 7:20 p.m. Kiev time. The crew capsule detached and headed into Earth orbit, and the launch vehicle successfully landed about two miles from the launch pad.

“After that, a few minutes later, a Skywalker dummy in a modernized crew capsule parachuted into the air. It all took around 10 minutes from launch to soft landing of the capsule,” says the Blue Origin website.

OBOZREVATEL previously reported that a SpaceX Dragon capsule with 12 bottles of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon wine and vines landed in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Tampa.

The food to the International Space Station was sent by Space Cargo Unlimited, a biological research company in space. Wine and vines spent about a year in space, during which time they were exposed to weightlessness and higher radiation than on Earth.
