Boris Grachevsky was born on March 18, 1949. He graduated from the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography with a degree in organizer of film production.

In 1974 Grachevsky together with the playwright Alexander Khmelkom founded the humorous children’s news program “Yeralash”, in which he was involved until the end of his life. Grachevsky wrote scripts for the newscast, performed several episodes as a stage director, and also appeared in Yeralash as an actor.

In 1995, on the basis of the Gorky Film Studio, Grachevsky founded the Yeralash-Land film studio. In 2009 and 2015, he directed two feature films: “The Roof” and “Between the Notes, or a Tactical Symphony”.
