The doctor named drugs that should be abandoned when infected with a coronavirus infection.
It is better to continue drinking water and not interfere with the natural process of the body, advised the doctor.
Joshua Shaffzin, MD, from Children’s Hospital of Cincinnati, USA, named medications that should be abandoned when infected with a coronavirus infection. On Tuesday, January 12, Good Housekeeping magazine reported.
During treatment for COVID-19, he said, it is necessary to stop taking antidiarrheal drugs with loperamide.
The doctor explained that due to medications containing loperamide, bowel function slows down, preventing the body from eliminating bacteria and inflammation on its own.
Also, Shaffzin urged not to use inhalers if there is no asthma, as they can damage the heart. Any medication that contains phenylaphrine, which is found in many nasal sprays, is dangerous for heart disease, he said.
These medications cause blockages in the small blood vessels in the nose and reduce blood flow. This can be especially dangerous for people with high blood pressure.
