January shutdown started in Ukraine

The government has introduced new restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They will be valid for 17 days.

In Ukraine, from midnight on January 8, additional quarantine restrictions came into effect as part of the fight against the coronavirus epidemic. They will be valid until 00:00 hours on January 25.

For 17 days, the work of cafes, restaurants and bars (except delivery and take away), non-food stores, non-food markets, cinemas, gyms, gyms, swimming pools, theaters and shopping centers is prohibited.

Also, all educational institutions were sent on vacation, except kindergartens and special educational institutions. All public events are prohibited.

During a shutdown, retail chains can sell food products, as long as at least 60% of their area is designated for food sales.

Also during this period, trade in medicines, medical items, hygiene products, communication equipment, veterinary drugs, feed, seeds, plant protection products, household chemicals and the printed press, and the trade in fuels are allowed.

During strict quarantine, it is allowed to work for financial institutions, cash collection services, postal operators, veterinary clinics, gas stations (without food zones), gas stations, hairdressers and beauty salons (by appointment).

It is recommended that employees of institutions and organizations, regardless of their form of ownership, be transferred to a remote form of work, if possible.

Locking transport will work, however the range of its movement can be changed.

Previously, the Ministry of Health explained that they did not abandon the confinement due to the epidemiological situation in Ukraine and the experience of other countries. According to Chief Medical Officer Viktor Lyashko, the burden on the healthcare system remains consistently high.
